Apple Releases iTunes 10.2.2 Update

This past weekend, Apple released a new version of iOS that fixed several bugs, including FaceTime issues and 3G connectivity problems with Verizon iPad models. The update, dubbed iOS 4.3.2, fixed frozen videos and random pictures displayed during FaceTime calls.

Today, Apple released iTunes 10.2.2 to address several important bug fixes that improve stability and performance with your iOS devices.

The new iTunes update addresses the following issues:

  • Fixes an issue where iTunes may become unresponsive when syncing your iPad.
  • Resolves an issue which may cause syncing photos with iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch to take longer than necessary.
  • Fixes a problem where video previews on the iTunes Store may skip while playing.

You can download the latest iTunes 10.2.2 by clicking here. Or, simply wait for your iTunes to push the update automatically to your computer. Enjoy!

iOS 4.3.2 for iPad, iPhone and iPod touch to Hit the Streets Within Two Weeks

iOS 4.3.1 squashed a slew of bugs, such as graphics glitches, but the update failed to address several issues, such as FaceTime bugs on the iPad 2, as well as shorter battery life on first generation iPads, iPhones and iPod touches.

According to BGR, a new iOS update is already in the works, and should hit the streets within the next two weeks. Named iOS 4.3.2, the new version of iOS 4.3.x will bring its own set of enhancements, and will address “bugs that have affected users.” The site does not give additional details about what the new version of iOS will actually fix, but we’re hoping that both battery life and camera issues will be on the list.

Since iOS 4.3 hit store shelves on March 9, Apple has been working double shifts to update its operating system. Barely two weeks after the launch of iOS 4.3, BGR announced that the release of iOS 4.3.1 was imminent, and as it turned out, iOS 4.3.1 was available four days later, on March 25. If BGR proves yet again to be accurate, iOS 4.3.2 should be released before April 21.

Also note that just like iOS 4.3.1, the update is also expected to fix “security issues,” and will most likely patch the exploit used in the recently released iOS 4.3.1 untethered jailbreaks. Since the launch of the iPad 2, Apple has been actively cracking down on jailbreaking: the iPad 2 came with extra fail-safes to help make the tablet immune to jailbreaks, and newly found exploits are patched shortly after – and in some cases before – they are used in jailbreak tools.

Apple Releases iOS 4.3.1 for iPad and iPhone Users

Apple has just released iOS 4.3.1 which brings a number of minor fixes to Apple’s mobile device lineup. The update comes just 14 days after iOS 4.3 was released on March 11 with the launch of the new iPad 2.

The update doesn’t include any major new features but does fix several customer issues including:

• Fixes an occasional graphics glitch on iPod touch (4th generation)
• Resolves bugs related to activating and connecting to some cellular networks
• Fixes image flicker when using Apple Digital AV Adapter with some TVs
• Resolves an issue authenticating with some enterprise web services

The update is for iPad 2, iPad, iPhone 4 (GSM), iPhone 3GS along with 3rd and 4th generation iPod Touch owners.

Previous reports indicated Apple was planning to release the update soon and the updated focused on bug fixes vs new features. With the iOS 4.3.1 update Apple is said to have “fixed” the jailbreak vulnerability found in 4.3.

The update is available via the iTunes Software Update feature.

iOS 4.3 Brings Live MLB.TV and NBA Games to Apple TV

Alright baseball and basketball fans. Just in time before the MLB regular season and the NBA playoffs start, Apple TV is now bringing you live game streaming service to your home.

These new capabilities have now become available as part of the iOS 4.3 software update released earlier today.

Business Insider has noted that the new update allows you to stream lots of baseball games through the Apple TV. MLB has already updated their website to make it official.

The new service requires a subscription to MLB.TV. With a subscription, you will have access to LIVE and archived HD quality games. The MLB.TV subscriptions are available in two packages – one available for $19.99 per month ($99.99 per year), the other one available for $24.99 per month ($119.99 per year).

For basketball fans, the new software update gives you access to the NBA League Pass feature, which allows you to enjoy free access to scores and other game data. You can also upgrade to gain access to LIVE and archived NBA games. The NBA League Pass is offering two streaming options via your Apple TV – one at $64.95 to watch games for up to seven teams throughout the season, or the other one for $99.95 to access all teams’ games.

Even though MLB.TV streaming has been supported by Roku and Boxee for a while, it’s nice to see Apple getting their gadget into the game. If only Apple would make plans to open up an App Store for the Apple TV in the future. That would certainly open additional possibilities to developers and content providers across the board.
