Turn Your iPad 2 into a MacBook Air with M.I.C’s Keyboard Case

Did you buy an iPad 2, while secretly wishing all the while that you were actually getting a sleek, shiny Macbook Air? Well, guess what? One company has the perfect solution for you!

M.I.C Gadget is now selling two eye-catching aluminum KeyBoard Buddy Cases, one with black keys and one with white keys. While the black-keyed case will turn your iPad 2 into a MacBook Air clone, the white keys look even more stylish with a white iPad.

This keyboard case is one of the sleekest, best looking keyboard style cases that we’ve seen, and it’s a great companion if you want to use your iPad for extensive emails, Pages documents, note taking, and more.

The case is made from good quality aluminum with a high-grade finish, just like the brushed aluminum of the Macbook Air and the backside of the iPad 2. With an innovative hinge design, you can use the case for typing in both landscape and portrait mode. With perfectly formed cutouts, all controls and ports are totally accessible at all times.

When you aren’t using the keyboard, it also acts as a protective cover for your iPad, which nestles tightly inside of it, providing full protection while your iPad is inside a bag or being carried around.

If all of that wasn’t enough, here’s one more feature to entice you: it comes with its own battery. It’s got a built-in rechargeable Li-on battery with a maximum 90 hour full charge.

If you’re looking for a case that’s stylish, thin, and ultra functional, the KeyBoard Buddy Case from M.I.C is a great choice. You can order it from the M.I.C. website for just $49.90.

Hammerhead Takes the Wraps off new iPad 2 Hard Shell Case

Hammerhead announces a new version of their hard shell case designed specifically for the iPad 2. Many of us prefer a hard case on our devices instead of other materials such as silicone or leather and this case looks like a very attractive option.

Constructed out of an ultra thin, lightweight polymer with cutouts where required, this case promises to protect your device from impact and scratches without adding a lot of bulk or weight. Taking cues from the Apple Smart Cover, the protective lid opens and folds to provide better angles for viewing or typing and I was also thrilled to see that it will wake and sleep your device as you open and close it!

This case is available in 10 colors, which means there is one to satisfy every preference. There are many neutrals to choose from for those of you who like to keep very business-formal, but there are also options for those of us who prefer a little vibrancy.

Hammerhead makes a variety of cases designed for your MacBook, iPad or iPad 2 device. While hard cases are very stylish and make good sense for protecting against scratches and giving you something nice to grip, if you prefer something with some more shock absorption or water resistance perhaps give some thought to their neoprene sleeves.

The Hammerhead iPad 2 Hard Shell Cases are available from Amazon.com for $39.99 or from the Hammerhead site directly for the same cost.

PADACS Ziva Slimline iPad 2 Case & Stand – Accessory Review

Looking for a nice quality, reasonably priced case to protect your iPad 2? If so, the Ziva slimline case and stand from Australian bases PADACS is definitely one you should consider. We’ve reviewed several PADACS products over the past year and have always been impressed with the designs and quality coming from this company down under.

The Ziva is a notebook style case, “designed to keep your iPad 2 protected without compromising on style or quality.” The soft synthetic leather looks like the real deal and had us fooled at first. The slim, lightweight design offers great protection without adding excessive bulk or weight to the overall package. A soft interior prevents scratches and all ports, jacks and buttons are readily accessible through appropriately placed cutouts.

The iPad 2 slides easily into position and a small flap tucks behind it to hold it securely in place. A magnetic front cover ensures the case stays closed and your screen stays scratch free and protected when not in use. The cover also doubles as a stand and can be folded back to create angles for typing and movie watching.

We were impressed with the overall quality of the Ziva and found it to be an excellent deal at this price point. It’s currently available in the US from the PADACS website for $29.95.

What I liked: Because I often carry my iPad inside another bad, I really like a notebook style case. The thin design of the Ziva added essentially no bulk to my device, making the whole thing easy to slide into my bag when I was on the go. I also liked the magnetic closure guaranteeing my screen would stay well protected as my iPad bounced around inside my oversize hand bag.

What I didn’t like: The Ziva doesn’t have the true Smart Cover function which turns the iPad on and off when you open and close the case.

To buy or not to buy: If you’re in the market for a nice case at a great price, the PADACS Ziva iPad 2 case is definitely worth a look.

  • Accessory: Ziva
  • Color: Black
  • Manufacturer: PADACS
  • Price: $29.95

Trident Aegis iPad 2 Case – Accessory Review

If you’re a fan of Trident’s Aegis case for the iPad and you’ve been waiting for the iPad 2 version to hit the shelves, you’re in luck. I recently received our PadGadget review unit and after several days of using it, I’m pleased with what it has to offer.

The updated Aegis case protects your iPad 2 on a number of fronts. A two part system includes a hard polycarbonate shell exterior and a flexible silicone interior to protect your device during everyday use. The black silicone insert fits snugly around your device to cushion and prevent scratches. A hard exterior shell (available in five color choices) follows, providing an additional layer of protection. All buttons are covered, while the headphone jack and silent/screen rotation lock switch have silicone tabs to open and close as necessary. The front and back facing cameras, as well as the docking port, are readily accessible via cutouts in the case. Worried about sound quality? The sound won’t be impeded by this case. Small holes were visible in the silicone lining during my installation and a series of slots in the shell help maintain the quality of sound output.

Getting your iPad 2 into this case is easy. Just separate the two pieces of the Aegis and place the device inside the silicone portion first. Next, make sure all ports and buttons are lined up with the appropriate cutouts and button covers to insure proper function, and finally insert into the hard shell for its final layer of protection. Just a few quick minutes of proper installation will guarantee countless hours of protected use.

In addition to the typical features one expects from a case, the Aegis offers an added benefit – a built-in stand. Its kickstand style opens at the bottom back of the case and a small inside flap locks the stand in place to keep everything stable and prevent it from collapsing.

Purchasing the Aegis will get you the case, plus a couple of bonus items as well. Trident includes a scratch and smudge-resistant screen protector, in addition to a small microfiber cloth, to help customers maintain the pristine condition of their screen.

Trident’s Aegis Case is a nice option for people looking to protect their iPad 2. It’s easy to use, offers great protection and comes in a wonderful range of colors. Interested? It’s available for purchase on the Trident website now.

What I liked: Although my kids are no longer toddlers, we do have the occasional iPad spill off the side of the sofa or on the tile floor, so I appreciate the protection the Aegis provides for my device. I also like the nice selection of colors and believe at least one of the choices should meet the desires of the majority of iPad 2 users.

What I didn’t like: The Aegis is a two piece case that takes a little bit of time to get the different pieces properly aligned and assembled, which may be a drawback for those of you who prefer the one step approach. The other potential drawback I found was the position of the stand. My kids and I often use my iPad to watch movies and I found it somewhat frustrating that the stand only worked in portrait mode.

To buy or not to buy: If you’re looking for a good quality case at a nice price point, Trident’s Aegis is definitely a solid option.

  • Accessory Name: Aegis
  • Manufacturer: Trident
  • Colors: Blue, Black, Red, Pink and Green
  • Price: $39.95
